Welcome to my weekly post on the craziness that occurs in my life...essentially, weekly therapy for me :D feel free to leave a comment (hopefully with support!) or just pass over this post altogether if it doesn't interest you!
Today's topic: I wish I lived in England
Why, might you ask, would an American wish they lived in England? There are several reasons, actually.
-I don't really fit in here in the US
A lot of my habits are not the norm for the American culture. For instance, I drink a lot of tea. Usually when I mention that I drink tea to a friend, they respond with "You drink that dirty water?". I also don't enjoy the staple American food-hamburgers and fries. It's pretty much sacrilege when I say no to a hamburger over here. I don't eat a lot of red meat and would much prefer to each fish and chips, which is pretty expensive over here and not that accessible.
-England has Harry Potter
Enough said.
-I hate driving and much prefer to take a train
Here, you have to drive everywhere unless you live in the city, which I hate. I love trains, and there's almost none here in the US and from what I've seen, there's more over in England.
-I love history
I love old churches and all the history that England has. I could probably get lost for hours in some places.
-I don't like hot weather
From what I hear, England is pretty cool and rainy-my kind of climate. I'm not a big fan of the sun and heat and much prefer to live year round in leggings, sweaters, and boots.
I know that there are negatives and positives to everything...but, I don't feel like I belong where I am sometimes.
So tell me, is the grass really greener on the other side? Do you wish you lived in a totally different place?

It is pretty amazing over here and trains/buses can take you anywhere! Although the weather can be confusing, it was cole last week and now we're having a mini-heatwave expected to last till Wednesday/Thursday. Ofc we are the home of Harry Potter!! But America has New York, California, Sephora and EOS lipbalms, haha (; xx
ReplyDeleteTrue, we do have NY, Cali, Sephora, and EOS, but you have London, can commute to Paris easily, and Sleek makeup! Having trains/buses to take you everywhere is really what I want the most, though(: xoxo
DeleteNail polish is cheaper over there though! Ha but yeah I really like the UK in general, although it's a bit hot for me at the moment, thinking of moving to Finland. That should do it.
ReplyDeleteTrue, makeup products are definitely cheaper over here. And Finland? Interesting! If I couldn't live in England I think I would want to live in Italy! xoxo
Deleteyou don't have fish and chips readily available? How do you cope!
ReplyDeleteI live in England and I've actually always wanted to live in America.
America seems a much more friendly place, and not to mention (important for a makeup obsessive like me) makeup and nail varnish is like half the price!
- Rhi xx
The whole fish & chips deal really does suck! Not many restaurants sell that dish and if they do, it's pretty expensive. I get so excited every time we go out to eat because it's the only time I get to eat it! And true, makeup is half the price, but I think I can suffer through paying double(: xoxo
DeleteI have always felt I was "secretly british", from prefering tea, liking the weather and being a public transporatation fan I always feel like I would fit in better across the pond. I have an opportunity to go work in the UK for 6 months next year - so I may get my wish!
ReplyDeleteYou're so lucky! My friends think I'm an 80 year old british woman (they just don't understand!). I would love to get to study abroad in England in a year or two! xoxo
DeleteA friend who loves tea is a friend indeed
ReplyDeleteHey! Its not just England
Britain has many more awesome places with loads of history and the food you like.
There is Northern Ireland,Scotland and Wales too!
I've always wanted to go to northern Scotland. Or all over Scotland in general :D I love immersing myself in beautiful scenery and some of the pictures I've seen of Scotland are simply beautiful! xoxo
